Psychiatrist/Nurse Practitioner

Assistant Executive Director for Behavioral Health Services and Medical Director

 

Position Summary:
Seeking a psychiatrist/nurse practitioner to work in community base behavioral health agency located in Lower East Side/Chinatown area in New York City. We are a NHSC-approved site and currently the largest outpatient mental health provider for Asian American on the East coast. We have been serving the Lower Manhattan for over 115 years and we are looking for a committed professional to join our team.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree in Doctor of Medicine from accredited medical school or appropriate degree and credential to practice as a nurse practitioner
•   Higher qualification in psychiatry from an accredited institution

• Appropriate medical licensure as required by New York State Office of Mental Health and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services 

• Knowledge of practices and principles of psychiatry and medicine and other theories in the mental health field
• Able to diagnose mental illnesses, provide treatment and prescribe appropriate medicines to treat psychological disorders
• Efficiently handle emotionally disturbed adults and children
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
• Ability to prepare and review diagnostic reports
• Proficiency in Chinese, a plus

• Experience in treating Asian American patients, preferred but not essential

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal as well as written skills
• Demonstrated ability to reach productivity and quality assured goals as put forth by agency

 

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, evaluate, and prescribe treatment for mental illnesses in adults and children
• Provide health assessments/examination to clients
• Maintain reports, administrative and clinical records according to agency policy

 

Compensation: Commensurate with credentials and experience

 

Hours: Hours will depend on employment status (full time or part time).
