- 60 seventh graders from The Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn partnered with the House's adult ESL students to learn about eachother's culture and lives through personalized conversations and activities.
- The House held its 8th Annual Gala at the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park on Thursday, October, 29th. The Gala was the most successful to date and raised almost $140,000 for youth and adult programs. The Shirley Chisholm Award for outstanding civic and community service was awarded to Deputy Mayor Dennis M. Walcott, and the 2009 Humanity Award was presented to Nicholas Caiazzo. - The House held its annual Halloween Party on October 31st in the House gym. Fifty children between the ages of 5 and 12 came and celebrated in costume.
November
- Mark Handelman, LCSW, is announced as the new Executive Director of Hamilton-Madison House. Mr. Handelman will officially begin on January 19th.
- The Junior Committee held a Happy Hour fundraiser in Midtown to support youth development programming.
- Biming Ling, a House ESOL teacher and a former House ESL student, received the Calvin Miles Award for Student Leadership from the Mayor's Office of Adult Education.

- Silverstein Properties, the United Nations International School, Packer Collegiate Institute, and the Junior Committee, donated and conducted holiday toy drives for the more than 800 children, ages 2 to 18 years, attending Hamilton-Madison House programs.
- The House held numerous holiday parties across the programs and departments to celebrate the season.
