1990-1994 1990 The Bicultural/Bilingual Chinese Master of Social Work Scholarship Project is initiated in cooperation with the Hunter School of Social Work 1991 William Goodwin is elected Board President. 1991 HMH once again assumes responsibility for the original Chinese Golden Club now called the City Hall Senior Center under the sponsorship of DFTA. It expands during the following years to serve more than 3,000 Chinese from Manhattan and the outer boroughs of New York City. 1992 The Ryan White Teen Outreach Project, is established. It attended to the needs of the HIV/AIDS at-risk and affected youth and their families in Smith Houses and the Catherine Street Family Respite Center. 1993 The Bicultural/Bilingual Chinese Master of Social Work Project is completed. Five more Chinese speaking social workers join the staff to serve the rapidly increasing Chinese-American population of New York City. 1993 Hamilton-Madison House celebrates its 95th birthday. Dedication of the Children’s Mural Project for the HMH gymnasium takes place. Racial harmony is its theme. 1993 Susan S. Chan, a leader in Asian-American mental health programs who served in many professional capacities at HMH since 1970 was promoted from Assistant Executive Director to the position of Associate Executive Director. 1994 Hamilton-Madison House opened a Supported Housing facility, the only one of its kind specializing in permanent housing for Asian American mental health patients. The program, located in Queens, offers life-enriching services to 23 residents. The official dedication took place in 1995. 1994 The Washington Memorial Park Cemetery Plot Project was established. 1994 Responding to the needs of working families, Head Start expands its half-day classes to two full day classes. 1994 Hamilton-Madison House improves services to staff through a newly created Human Resources Department. Jackie Guinta, who had been the executive secretary for more than twenty years, becomes its first Human Resources Director.
