2000-2002

2000 Prevocational Training Program is initiated. Computer classes and a carpentry workshop help prepare area residents for the job market. A job developer/volunteer coordinator is hired to help with resume preparation and interview techniques.

2000 2nd Annual Wine Tasting and Raffle Drawing is held at the New York Mercantile Exchange

2001 HMH celebrates Frank Modica’s 25th anniversary as its Executive Director at the World Trade Marriott.

2001 The Calder Foundation funds the new Children’s Computer Literacy Center for kindergarten age children.

2001 Peter Yee is hired as the new Assistant Executive Director of Behavioral Programs.

2001 In response to the tragic events of September 11th Hamilton-Madison House staff hire 10 new social workers, who provide grief and disaster counseling to children and adults. The free services are available in 10 languages including 5 dialects of Chinese.

2001 The City Hall Senior Center moves to a new location at 100 Gold Street just in time to celebrate its 50 year anniversary in December.

2001 Project Liberty, created by the New York State Office of Mental Health after the events of September 11th, provided funding for crisis counseling services at Hamilton-Madison House. 

2002 23rd Annual Chinatown Banquet is held on April 19, 2002. The honorees were Emily Menlo Marks, the Executive Director of United Neighborhood Houses of New York and the New York Downtown Alliance, Division of Public Safety.

2002 Hamilton-Madison House celebrated the centennial of Hamilton House with an Italian heritage gala on October 22, 2002. The honorees were Carmen Finestra, Film and Television Executive Producer, Arthur Imperatore Jr., President of New York Waterway, Vincent Viola, Chairman of New York Mercantile Exchange and Bernadette Castro, Commissioner of New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation.
